Many people live with constant moderate to high levels of stress hormones, leading to conditions such as depression, high blood pressure, headaches, and digestive disorders. Fortunately, it is often possible to reduce the amount of stress in your life by making changes in your lifestyle – for example, changing jobs, learning to be more assertive, and choosing public transportation instead of a nerve-wracking commute. Once you have made these changes, you can still help yourself by managing stress that is left.

There are several ways to manage stress. Some stress management techniques are primarily external – that is, they focus on actions and your body. Providing a comfortable environment in your home is very important. As much as possible, surround yourself with items that are soothing and/or beautiful, according to your tastes. It is helpful to have at least one room you can go to when you are particularly stressed. In this room you may want to have pretty pictures, candles or incense, music, comfortable pillows and a chair, and hobby items that help you relax (books, knitting supplies, crossword puzzles, etc.).

Aromatherapy can be used inside your home as well as anywhere you go. You may want a guide to the best scents for various purposes, or you may choose to go with your own tastes. If coconut or sun-ripened raspberry makes you smile, include it in your kit of stress relievers. Perhaps a certain cologne reminds you of a favorite family member such as your grandmother. Since smell is the sense most strongly linked to memories, it

can put you in touch with those comfortable feelings of the past.

Good nutrition, regular exercise, and adequate sleep are the foundation to managing stress. If your body is not getting the supplies it needs, it will not be able to cope with the stress hormones and greater damage will result. Exercise provides increased oxygen to the cells, causes blood to pump faster and thereby remove toxins, and releases the ‘feel-good’ endorphins if practiced regularly. Many people operate under a chronic sleep deficit; this by itself can be a cause of stress. Other stressors make sleep, especially refreshing deep sleep, more difficult to achieve. There are many ways to improve sleep that do not involve drugs. One important method is to develop a sleep routine and use it to help you go to bed at about the same time every night.

Social interaction in the context of spirituality or a support group often helps you manage stress. Groups such as these are more likely to be welcoming and encouraging than purely social groups. If you happen upon a group where there is drama, arguing, dissension, or other stress-inducing characteristics, find another group! Unless you live far from other people, you can probably find a group of people to whom you can relate. In the absence of face-to-face groups, online groups can be useful; however, exercise extreme caution if you join an online group. Make sure you know all of the guidelines for safety and security on the Internet.

In addition to these ‘external’ strategies for managing stress, there are many ‘internal’ techniques which focus on your mind. First and most important, examine your attitude, belief system, and thinking processes and compare them to reality (this is a difficult process and you may choose to ask for help). For example, do you tend to be highly pessimistic? Do you believe that you are a victim of circumstances and the whims of others? Look for complaining, self-pity, and feeling helpless, hopeless, overwhelmed and pushed around. Most people feel like victims at times. It is when the victim point of view becomes a habit that it contributes to your stress load.

The strength of your body’s reaction to a perceived stressor is based on two things: the stressor itself, and the amount of danger you perceive. Imagine that you have made a mistake at work, and you see your boss approaching. If you think “She knows I did this, and she’s going to fire me. This is the worst thing that could have happened to me. No wonder I never can keep a job,” then the stress hormones will be a gushing flood! On the other hand, if you think “This was a minor mistake, and I will make up for it. My other work is generally good. She may be mad, but it will be okay,” then you might have a trickle of stress hormones. Your attitudes, beliefs, and thinking processes are like a pair of glasses through which you see the world.

Fortunately, it’s possible to change those glasses. It does take time and effort, but you can choose to think positively about the future, to have a realistic view of the likelihood of negative events, and to detach yourself from the effects of others’ moods, thoughts processes, and actions. These are the long-term methods for managing stress.

If you want to start to get on top of your stress today, then pop over to <a

But it is possible for you to keep the mind agile and active to a great extent.

Any individual who can meet the challenges of old age, is the real hero in life. If you are seventy years of age, don’t think that you are seventy. Think that you are twenty. For, they say, fifty is the youth of old age.

The real problem of old age comes, if you are isolated. If you are part of the family and if your spouse is supportive, children helpful, have grandchildren to play with, where could stress find place in your life?

Such grandfathers/grandmothers are capable of cracking jokes against others/amongst others/ and against their own selves!

And those who can crack jokes against their own personality, are the strongest individuals and stress won’t bother them at all! For laugher is contagious. If you laugh, you make others too laugh!

Your retirement date is just a few months away. You are under great stress. How would be the life like? You feel that it is full of uncertainties. But I have met many people, who are leading a very happy post-retirement life. “It is the beginning of a new life. The real life has begun after the retirement, they say. And if you have carefully planned your retirement life, with proper financial planning, your family members will be more considerate to you, as they know that you have a sound bank balance!

Old age is not an accident of life<div

You know that it is coming. It has to come! So, why worry over the inevitable? But, if you don’t make proper plans for your retirement, you are to blame yourself for that.

Even after retirement, you need to have a proper time-management budget. No doubt, you don’t have office schedule or the bothersome business schedule. You have lots of time to waste!

Yet you must formulate the art of remaining busy in style, without the stress on your body and mind. You have the experience of the whole life behind you and therefore it is possible for you to confidently chalk out a plan for meeting the possible stress. You have the capability and experience, to treat stress as a joke!

Yes, life is a comedy for those who have the capacity to enjoy!

Ashish Jain

No related posts.

Best Ways To Reduce Stress

Stress table

Photography

stress management

Stress Management Tips

Ways To Manage Stress
<guid

They say you are the creator of your destiny and circumstances. When you think that you are the victim of circumstances, you are under stress. In short, when you are unable to cope up with a given situation, you are under stress!

Whether the businessmen have more stress or those in service have more stress? The answer is not ‘No’. Both have stress. Stress or no stress, is the manner in which you manage your life. Your response to a given situation is the indicator whether you have the stress or not! To give you an example- it may be the best orchestra of the town; but if your heart is the muffled drum, what you can do about it? How you can enjoy the vibrations of the music?

When you know the signs and understand the sources of stress, with a firm resolution, you can find a remedy for it as well. Ups and downs are common in business. It is part and parcel of its sustainability. Women businessmen have a different type of stress. They have to strike the balance between running the business and the household duties.

One of the important steps to tackle the stress is to organize your environment, and budget your time. Set a time table and work according to that schedule. You can’t have more than twenty four hours in a day. Your competitors too have just that many hours. Then how they are in a more advantageous position?

Think positively. Whe<div
