In 1983, stress was declared as “Epidemic of 80′s” by Time Magazine. So what has changed now? Situation is same in 21st century or even worse?

After that Time magazine article actually got published in 1983, till today, in these 26 years. Our life has become more complicated, become more technology oriented. In all these years we have introduced mobile phones, internet, email, 24/7 news channels (those keep on telecasting brutal crime scenes). We are facing financial crises, have mortgages, credit cards bills, self managed retirement plans. As a nation we have concerns of terrorism, bad economy and global warming.

All these elements are causing more stress. An average American’s stress levels are far higher than that was in 80′s.

Influence of this stress is devastating on our physical and mental health. The AIS (American institute of Stress) has estimated 75 – 90% of all visits to physicians are illness caused by stress and heart disease. 1 in every 12 Americans or 8.09% of population is heart patient. A research conducted in 2001 shows 30.3% of deaths due to heart disease. It’s about 725,92 deaths every year. Situation is far worse in year 2009. Stress factors are increased and stress levels are sky rocketed causing more people to become heart disease patients and die of worrying. Today stress is truly the No. epidemic in United States of America.

Now question arises how an average America can reduce stress without changing the society or economy. The answer can be found in stress management techniques. However managing stress when you are stressed too much, almost close to your limit can be very challenging.

To reduce stress, you first have to know what stress actually is; “stress is circumstances that you are facing and the way you think about these circumstances.” So, if you can’t change circumstances, stress management techniques can change your way of thinking about circumstances. These techniques can teach you how to neglect bad thoughts and to concentrate at positive things, making you a cool headed person, strong and a better human.

I’ve met several people who are stressed to the point they feel overwhelmed, almost lost their senses. In condition where they can’t even understand and listen to sincere advice. There are exercises, yoga programs those can help you release stress.

What if you become a strong person? You can handle difficult situations without trembling, without losing your mind in tough times. This is what an average American needs, to become cool, pleasant and strong at heart & mind to face the challenges in life.

Jeff Brendan is a Dahn Yoga student and enthusiast. Always willing to share his experiences and help others by sharing his knowledge.

No related posts.

Stress Relief Tips – 3 Effective Strategies To Neutralize Stress Instantly

Stress relief management

anxiety relief

Online stress relief

Stress anxiety relief

stress management

Stress Management Techniques

Stress Management Tips

stress relief

Stress relief download

Stress Relief Techniques

Stress Relief Tips

Stress relief can feel impossible when everything is going out of control. However, you cannot allow it to control your life. Otherwise, you will end up with health issues and a battered and bruised mental state. Each person deals with anxiety differently, but everyone has one thing in common: they are ultimately responsible to deal with their stress.

Some people know how to get stress relief quickly and easily, and others don’t know how. Not to fear though, if you’re one of those who fall into the second category, here are 3 effective strategies to neutralize your anxiety instantly:

1. Stress is a great motivating tool to inspire you to take action to eliminate your sources of anxiety and ultimately improve your quality of life. By arming yourself with a positive, can-do attitude, you can take charge of the situations that cause you stress. This way, you’re taking control of your anxiety, rather than letting your stress control you. Otherwise, you will continue to be the victim to the anxiety in your life.

2. Believe it or not, your diet and exercise habits (or lack thereof) play a major part in how well you handle stress. A few changes in what you eat and how often you exercise will play a major role in relieving your anxiety. Also, many people tend to turn to smoking when they are stressed, but smoking only temporarily soothes the symptoms of anxiety- it doesn’t solve any problems at all! In the long term, you’re better off quitting smoking, because when you take care of your health, you won’t get stressed so easily.

3. Finally, if you can’t take the stress out of you, take yourself out of stress. That is to say that you should remove yourself from stressful situations if you can. Don’t let yourself be caught up in negativity and unnecessary conflict. If you find yourself in an emotionally abusive friendship or relationship, perhaps it’s time to let go and allow yourself to have relief from the ongoing anxiety. Who you surround yourself with ultimately determines whether you’re always stressed or if you’re living the fun and fulfilled life you deserve.

Don’t believe it for one second if anyone ever claims that you can just pop a pill and get anxiety relief instantly. It may remove the symptoms of stress, but unless you deal with the root of the stress then it will only get worse.

The truth is, you have to work at becoming stress-free. You can make the choice to achieve stress relief right now, but to incorporate it into your lifestyle takes time. In the meantime, expect to see steady improvements in your anxiety levels, and don’t forget to celebrate your small victories against stress each day.

Finally, remember that life’s too good to put yourself at risk from the dangerous consequences of stress. Choose a happy and fulfilled life by choosing to relieve yourself from anxiety today!

Are you in need of stress relief? This practice not only raises your momentum but also gets you to get going and be more productive. Leading yourself to better subjects instead of getting an argument or waste time, this can help you to become better than anyone else expects you.

Don’t fret on your workload that wastes your time in getting more tension and eventually leads you to lessen your effort in being productive. Try to think that all of you have to work regardless on the workload so keep the simple truth whole heartedly so you can go on and never put second thoughts on getting the job to be done with all the efforts.

Extreme reactions are to be avoided for it will be more stress to give way to extreme reactions that tends to raise rivalry as well as getting you to a bad mood brooding over the reaction. Finding a quiet, secluded place (especially if you are often surrounded with noise, smoke, and crowds of people)

6. Changing your attitude

Although there are many factors that determine a person’s mental and emotional well being, the one factor that is most within your control is the way you view life. If you have a poor attitude, everything will tend to seem negative and will be a source of fear. If you believe that life is to be lived fully and in celebration, then even the sad and hard times will not get you down for any longer than it takes for some genuine introspection.

18. Have an attitude that breeds joy and success

I am not just suggesting positive thinking. It’s a wonderful concept, but it won’t help you much when your world is collapsing around you.

Maintaining an attitude that creates productive and effective choices, without or in spite of fear and anxiety, involves the ability to see all things as possible even if you do not intellectually understand how that is so. There is great power in being able to see that possibilities are available even when you are not feeling positive. The key to this is a willingness to conceive of yourself as deserving all of the best that life has to offer. Having this outlook about things is not something that comes automatically at first. It is something that develops over time and can be taught to you.

For more information visit <a

People experience stress whether at work, at home, or in school. And if left unmanaged, stress can cause emotional, psychological, and physical problems. Instead of simply letting stress run your life, you can overpower it. Where can we find practical stress management techniques?

At school, Student Services or the guidance counsellor will be more than happy to discuss practical stress management to students. At work, the Human Resources Department usually schedules talks on different subjects that will help its employees become more efficient, competent, and productive. And stress management is definitely part of this list. You can even find many articles and resources on the Internet that tackle practical stress management. These are the different venues where you can find valuable tips and techniques.

When talking about practical stress management, some of these techniques are actually very easy to do. Here are some examples of practical stress management techniques.

Positive Thinking. This can definitely help one to get rid of stress. If you stop looking at the bad or unhappy aspects of a situation and focus on the good and happy aspects, you will not be burdened by stress. Practice positive visualizations daily and you will see yourself improving, more happy, and successful.

Exercise. More than keeping your bodies in tip-top shape, exercising also relieves stress and helps you relax and calm your mind. Make a daily exercise routine which will be your daily outlet for stress. Doing yoga is a great way to exercise and meditate at

the same time. Many people are becoming enticed to do yoga because it is a great way to relieve stress.

Breathing Exercises. Another practical stress management technique is breathing exercises. If you concentrate on your breathing exercise, you will start feeling relaxed and calm. Stress will leave your mind.

Time Management. Many people find themselves really stressed out because they do not know how to manage their time properly. They go through each day filled with a very long list of to-do’s that they forget to stop and smell the flowers. That can really be one stressful life! Create a daily schedule of the things that you must accomplish. Allot enough time for each activity. Do not cram so many activities in one day if it is close to impossible to accomplish them all. With your daily schedule, you will also see if you are already spreading yourself too thin. You can ask for other people’s help, if necessary.

Music. Listening to music is a great technique for practical stress management. Create a playlist of soft, calming music that you love to listen to when you feel stressed out. And if you are studying, try listening to classical music because of its benefits on learning.

Eddy Wai KK is a certified behavioral consultant for more than 5 years and used to be a stress and anxiety sufferer.
